I\u2019m sorry.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been away for a while and didn\u2019t tell you.\u00a0 Writing the \u2018On California\u2019 blog at EdWeek.org has become such a full time job\u2014my wife Leanne thinks it is an obsession\u2014that I\u2019ve had little leftover time for Mindworkers.<\/p>\n

Also, given that I have another outlet for educational policy writing, I need to rethink what to do with this space, and that\u2019s a work in process.<\/p>\n

Just to reflect, in many ways \u2018On California\u2019<\/a><\/strong> is the project I was built to undertake.\u00a0 It\u2019s the newspaper column I never had.\u00a0 It\u2019s a way to combine my early training and instincts for writing with four decades of social science.<\/p>\n

In another way, though, it is tough work for an old guy, and there are days that I think that something more contemplative would be better for my soul.<\/p>\n
